As an employee-owned company, GA Communications has an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). Each year, an internal corporate video detailing the financial highlights of the previous year is produced and shown to all employees. The video clip above is from the introductory segment from the 2007 ESOP video. It features a special effect achieved by filming a cast of extras in motion on-set, as well as separately filming the speaker on the same set. The footage of the extras was then sped up in post production while the speaker was “cut out” of his own footage, frame by frame, and then digitally inserted at normal speed into the graphically-enhanced background footage. The result is a high-energy, eye-catching opening.
