CASE STUDY 1: Re-engineering the Process
OBJECTIVE
One of the nation’s leading multi-divisional supermarket retailers, operating nine divisions in six time zones, wanted to reduce advertising costs internally and externally through the systematic consolidation and centralization of all their advertising services.

SOLUTION
GA Communications initiated an extensive re-engineering process, which began with the establishment of a comprehensive Central Media Asset Database (CMAD) for the client. The CMAD was the repository for all of the client’s advertising assets, primarily the digital images of their grocery products—completely populated with photography and scans that were executed by photo studios in three of GA’s facilities across the country. During the transition, GA provided ongoing systems support and training in the use of ADsembly™, the automated page production application GA designed to facilitate advertising production. Today, GA’s retail creative agency, PureRed Creative, also provides the client with high-end creative/design support. GA continues to provide page production, premedia, and comprehensive Web services to the client.

RESULTS
GA was the catalyst and an integral partner in the client’s successful centralization of their advertising operations. On average, GA produces close to 18,000 base pages and over 66,000 version pages of advertising per year for the client. Thanks to GA’s automation and streamlining of processes, this tremendous volume is cost-effective and efficiently produced.
